Early Game Build Guide

Complete Adira Nusantara early game build guide — best starter character, weapon pick, first 3 hours route, attribute allocation through level 40, and the 5 most common beginner mistakes that lock you out of mid-game content. Optimized for the 1.0 release.

Starter Character Comparison

Your starter character is locked for the entire playthrough, so pick carefully. The three "easy" characters (Rama, Guntur, and to a lesser extent Sari) are all viable for first-timers. Your choice depends on whether you prefer tanky/defensive play, raw power, or fast/aggressive play. The harder characters (Nyi Roro, Bayu, Dewi) are best saved for experienced action-RPG players.

CharacterRoleDifficultyBest Starter WeaponFirst-Hour Tip
Rama WijayaBalanced FighterEasyKeris & Shield (default)Use parry on every enemy opening attack. The first hour should be learning Silat fundamentals.
Guntur BumiHeavy DestroyerEasyPedang Besar (Greatsword)Focus on STR first. Save your ultimate for grouped enemies — it wipes crowds in one cast.
Sari DewiAgile DancerMediumDual Kris (default)If you are new to action games, save Sari for your second playthrough. Her combo chains are rewarding but punishing.

First 3 Hours Route

The optimal first 3 hours get you to level 8-9, fully upgraded starter weapon, and ready for the Chapter 1 boss. This route balances XP gain, exploration, and preparation. Do not try to clear 100% of Chapter 1 in your first run — you will over-level and the Chapter 2 content will feel trivial, which ruins the difficulty curve.

TimePhaseWhat to Do
0-10 minTutorial VillageComplete the tutorial. Pick up the starter weapon. Talk to every NPC for free XP. Do NOT skip the parry tutorial — it unlocks the most important defensive mechanic.
10-25 minForest OutskirtsClear the first 3 mini-camps. Each gives 50 XP and a Common Crystal. Loot every chest — beginner weapons are common drops.
25-45 minCave Entrance (Chapter 1 Boss)Defeat the Village Chief tutorial boss. This is a scripted win, but practice your dodge and counter timing. After the boss, you reach level 4-5.
45-90 minPost-Tutorial HubVisit the Pendekar Hall for the first time. Respec is not available yet, but you can preview your build. Talk to the blacksmith to unlock weapon upgrades.
90-120 minMountain PathClear 2 elite enemies (marked red). Each gives 80 XP. Upgrade your weapon at the blacksmith — Tier 2 weapons are 30% stronger.
120-180 minFirst Real Boss (Guardian of Earth)You should hit level 7-8 by the time you reach this boss. Use the strategy guide (see Boss Strategy page) to learn the phase transitions. Defeating this boss unlocks Chapter 2.

Attribute Allocation by Level

Early attribute allocation is forgiving — you can respec at the Pendekar Hall starting in Chapter 2. The advice below is the optimal path for a first playthrough. By level 40 your build should feel locked-in. If it does not, respec is cheap (5000 gold + 1 Refined Crystal) and should be done before pushing into Chapter 5+.

Level RangePrimary FocusSecondarySkipTip
Levels 1-10STR or AGI (match your class)VITSkip INT/WISTank classes prioritize STR + VIT. DPS classes prioritize main stat + AGI. Pure INT/WIS builds are not viable before level 20.
Levels 11-20Main stat + first damage multiplierVIT to 20 (minimum survivability)Open up secondary stat if build needs itHit VIT 20 by level 15. Below that, you start taking one-shot kills from elite enemies.
Levels 21-30Build-defining statsVIT cap at 30DEX or WIS if hybridMost meta builds define themselves at this level. Re-read your character guide and lock in your identity.
Levels 31-40Stack main statCap VIT at 35Skip DEX (most builds do not need it past 25)By level 35, you have seen all content up to Chapter 4. Your build should feel complete. If it does not, respec.

5 Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

These five mistakes are responsible for 80% of first-time player deaths and lockouts in the Adira Nusantara community. Read through them once before starting your playthrough. Each one is recoverable, but the recovery cost (time, gold, XP) makes avoidance the much better strategy.

MistakeConsequenceHow to Fix
Skipping the parry tutorialYou will die repeatedly in Chapter 2 when enemies start using unblockable attacks. Parry is required to counter these, and the only way to learn it is the tutorial.Reload a save from before the tutorial skip and complete it fully.
Spending all gold on healing itemsYou will hit a gold wall at level 15 when you need 5000 gold for the first weapon Tier 3 upgrade. Healing items become less important once you learn dodge-rolling.Spend gold in this priority: weapon upgrades > talismans > healing items. Buy only 3-5 healing items at a time.
Trying to explore every corner in Chapter 1You will over-level for Chapter 1 but under-level for Chapter 2. The XP curve assumes you skip ~30% of optional content.Clear 70% of the map, leave the rest. Focus on shrines, mini-bosses, and side quests — skip filler chests.
Using a weapon type that does not match your classSome weapons have hidden class affinity bonuses. A Sari using a Greatsword loses 25% DPS compared to her native Dual Kris. The game does not warn you about this.Check the weapon description for "Class Affinity: [Class Name]". Only equip weapons with your class affinity or neutral weapons.
Dying repeatedly in Chapter 2 boss fightDeath XP penalty stacks. Three deaths in the same boss fight can cost you 30% of your level progress. If you are stuck, leave the boss arena and farm side quests for one level. Come back stronger.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best starter character for a brand new player?

Rama Wijaya. He is the most forgiving character in the game with the highest HP pool, built-in parry, and counter-attack mechanics. His main weakness (slow kill speed) does not matter in early game where every enemy dies in 3-4 hits anyway. Guntur Bumi is a strong second pick for players who prefer big weapons.

Should I explore every shrine or rush the main story?

Shrines are worth exploring — each one gives 200 XP and unlocks a fast-travel point. Aim to clear 80% of shrines. The remaining 20% are in tricky platforming sections you can come back for at level 15+ with better movement abilities.

How do I unlock the dodge-roll i-frames?

You unlock i-frames (invincibility frames) on the dodge-roll automatically at level 5. The tutorial does not tell you this. The first 4 levels, your dodge is just a roll with no i-frames. Once you hit level 5, the dodge becomes a core defensive tool.

Is there a way to respec my starting character pick?

No. Your starter character is locked for the entire playthrough. In New Game+, you can pick a different character but your original character remains available. The 5 mythic achievements require playing all 8 characters at least once, so plan ahead.
